LEAF PRINT LUMBAR
The Leaf Print Pillow highlights the art of traditional hand-weaving and the capture of nature’s fingerprint.
The fabric is a traditional Indonesian textile, Tenun Tumanggal, hand-spun from 100% cotton and woven on manual looms. Each weave carries the subtle irregularities and rhythm of the artisan’s hand, resulting in a natural, textural surface that feels both organic and elevated. One side is softly dyed in a muted moss-green tone, offering depth and calm through its earthy, grounded color.
The reverse features a botanically inspired pattern created through an eco-printing process. This technique traces its origins to medieval botanical study, where plant forms were pressed and transferred to document natural pigments and structure. That same fascination with preserving nature’s detail carried into the Renaissance, when Leonardo da Vinci later documented similar botanical printmaking methods in his manuscripts.
Today, this centuries-old process is valued not for documentation, but for the individuality it creates. Eco-printing relies on plant-based dyes rather than synthetic pigments, resulting in softer, earth-derived tones and patterns that feel lived-in rather than manufactured. Each leaf leaves behind a slightly different impression, making every pillow uniquely its own, much like a fingerprint shaped by nature.
Finished with a hand-applied natural fringe, the pillow gains subtle movement and depth, balancing its artisanal character with a relaxed, refined finish. Thoughtfully constructed with a hidden zipper and polyester insert, the Leaf Print Pillow is designed for both beauty and everyday ease.
